Welcome
The Las Virgenes Academy is a home-based independent study program K-12 with a focus on interpersonal relations and personal development. The academy was initiated in 2003 by a group of dedicated home school families who went to the LVUSD school board with an innovative idea: a parent-driven and district cooperative venture.
Parents initiate, and the district helps facilitate, field trips, park days, playgroups, teen events, social activities, guest speakers, enrichment classes, parent workshops, group discussions, projects, fairs, parent night out, toddler-sibling weekly activities and more.
The school district funds a beautiful facility at AE Wright Middle School where a wide array of home-based hands-on enrichment classes are held, most for free. Each year, parents take a poll of what enrichment classes they want, and together, parents and the school district make it happen.
In addition, students can take any combination of on-site classes at the district elementary, middle and high schools. This hybrid program is extremely successful and allows families a balance between school and home-based independent study.
We also have weekly park days and monthly field trips that the whole family is welcome to join!
We warmly welcome the whole family!
Inter district transfers welcome.

- Take those gifts and talents and bring them out into the entrepreneurial world.
Purpose:
- To facilitate the ongoing and changing needs of every child and family in their highly personal quest for learning, meaning, and growth.
- To build an environment of safety and trust within which we can explore, create and discover our individual passion and brilliance.
